How It Works: Flow Reversal Cleaning During Operation

  • In plate heat exchangers, fouling typically accumulates where flow enters the plate channels and in low-velocity zones within the corrugation pattern.
  • By periodically reversing flow direction, these deposits are dislodged from the plate surfaces and carried out of the exchanger.
  • Deposits that would otherwise remain until the next manual cleaning are washed away (to the cooling tower basin).
